Governor Peter Mbah has announced that Enugu State will host the 2025 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST). The event will run from November 22 to 29, 2025, with the theme “Connected Culture.”

This news followed a courtesy visit by the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Obi Asika, to the Enugu State Government House.

Governor Mbah welcomed the announcement with excitement. He said Enugu is ready to host what could be the best NAFEST edition yet.

“Enugu lends itself to arts and culture. We are ready and hungry to host this event,” the governor said. “We will deliver one of the most memorable NAFEST experiences in history.”

NAFEST is expected to attract over 5,000 participants from more than 30 states across Nigeria. The festival will include cultural parades, exhibitions, performances, and storytelling from Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.

Promoting Tourism and Cultural Development

Governor Mbah used the opportunity to speak about Enugu’s efforts to promote its cultural and tourism assets. He mentioned key sites such as the Awhum Waterfall and the Nsude Pyramid Canopy Walkway. These locations have recently received upgrades to support the state’s tourism push.

“This aligns perfectly with our goal of attracting 3 million visitors annually,” he stated. “We are creating opportunities for our youth and positioning Enugu as a top destination for business, leisure, living and tourism.”

Obi Asika praised the state for its growing investments in tourism and hospitality. He said NAFEST 2025 would shine a spotlight on Enugu’s rich culture and vibrant history.

Enugu Assures Security and Full Cultural Immersion

The state government assured visitors and participants of safety throughout the one-week event. Enugu is known for being one of Nigeria’s safest states.

“This is a moment where opportunity meets preparation, and we are proud to rise to the occasion,” Governor Mbah added.

NAFEST 2025 will serve as a major platform to showcase Nigeria’s unity through culture, bring tourism revenue, and foster economic activity across the state.
