Heavily armed kidnappers invaded Grow Homes estate in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, a large suburb in Abuja, in the early hours of Monday, for more than an hour, and taking residents hostage

According to reports, the attack occurred between midnight and 1:30 am, creating an atmosphere of panic throughout the estate.

One resident, who witnessed the abduction, reported seeing a man and a woman being led away by the criminals. However, by daybreak, the woman was found within the estate, having been released by her captors for reasons that is still unclear.

The exact number of persons kidnapped could not be immediately confirmed by this resident.

The incident happened around midnight. These guys were heavily armed and managed to overpower our local security team,” one resident recounted. “The police eventually arrived at approximately 1 am, leading to an exchange of gunfire that lasted for about 30 minutes.”

Expressing their desperation and concern for their safety, residents are appealing to the government to prioritize the repair of the road leading to their estate. They believe that the poor condition of the road hinders easy access for security patrol vehicles, thus contributing to their vulnerability.

Furthermore, they are imploring the police and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration to establish a police station within their community to ensure swifter response times in the event of future security threats.
