The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) across Nigeria. The new price now ranges from ₦875 to ₦905 per litre, depending on the region.
It will be the fifth time in 2025 alone, Dangote will be announcing petrol price cuts, although there has been some confusion regarding this.
This ₦15 reduction per litre affects all major fuel marketers working with the refinery. These marketers include MRS, Ardova, Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy.
“Our quality petrol and diesel are refined for better engine performance and are environmentally friendly,” the company said in a public statement.
Previously, petrol cost ₦890 in Lagos and up to ₦920 in the North-East and South-South. With the new rates, Lagos now pays ₦875. The South-West pays ₦885. Residents in the North-West and Central regions will buy fuel at ₦895. The North-East, South-South, and South-East will pay ₦905.
Nationwide Adjustment Follows Calls for Fairer Pricing
The change comes after growing complaints over price differences in various zones, especially in remote areas. Many Nigerians have faced hardship due to rising transport costs caused by high petrol prices.
The Dangote Refinery advised consumers to buy from authorized partner stations only. It warned that anyone selling above the new price is not following the company’s policy.

Customers are encouraged to report such cases to the refinery through these hotlines: +234 707 470 2099 or +234 707 470 2100.
“We want Nigerians to enjoy affordable, clean, and efficient fuel without being exploited,” a Dangote official told reporters.
Refund Policy Returns as Extra Relief for Buyers
Alongside the price cut, the company has brought back its refund benefit policy for consumers. This refund scheme allows eligible customers to get partial refunds after verified purchases.
The refinery’s move is being seen as a positive response to economic pressure and public demand. It also comes as Nigeria continues its battle with inflation and rising living costs.
