Assemblies of God Church, Ogbor Uvuru in Aboh Mbaise, Imo State, is preparing to dedicate the first-ever multi-billion Naira Noah’s Ark Church building in Nigeria.
The groundbreaking structure was fully financed and donated by philanthropist and real estate mogul, Engr. Barr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye of Hope Rising for Imolites.
The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025. Already, it has gained international attention due to its unique design and spiritual significance.
This architectural wonder is not just a church; it is a symbol of hope and spiritual refuge. Built to resemble the Biblical Noah’s Ark, the building reflects obedience to divine inspiration and is now considered a spiritual destination and tourist centre.
“The Noah’s Ark Church is a symbol of faith, obedience, and salvation,” Akagburuonye said. “Even the snail, often slow and seemingly insignificant, found refuge in the ark, escaping the deluge that destroyed everything else.”
He added that the Ark will serve as a sanctuary where people can grow spiritually and find refuge in God. “Anybody that comes to the Ark to call on God will be saved,” he said.
High-Profile Guests and Global Interest
Several high-profile personalities are expected to attend the dedication. They include former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, Rev. Dr Uma Ukpai, and Rev. Dr Sarah Seoh from Los Angeles.
Also expected are traditional rulers, industry leaders, political figures, and a large number of Christian faithful.
The building will be officially opened by Rev. Abel Ukachi Amadi, Ph.D., the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria. The event is anticipated to draw a large crowd of worshippers and tourists from Nigeria and abroad.
Akagburuonye explained that he was inspired by the Holy Spirit to build the Ark-shaped church. He searched worldwide for churches with a similar design but found none. So, he worked with architects to bring his vision to life.
“We played with designs until we arrived at this magnificent structure,” he said. “This church will be a sanctuary for spiritual growth, refuge, and salvation.”
Located in his hometown, Ogbor Uvuru, the Noah’s Ark Church now stands as a testament to his faith and generosity. It reflects his deep commitment to using his wealth and influence to promote God’s Kingdom on earth.
As the dedication date approaches, the Ark is already serving as a symbol of hope for those seeking a place of spiritual retreat and physical refuge.
