Prince Harry is speaking out after losing a court battle over his security in the UK. The Duke of Sussex had appealed a decision to reduce his security protection, but the Court of Appeal dismissed his case.
In an emotional interview with newsmen, Prince Harry complained he was “devastated” by the ruling.
The prince’s security was downgraded in 2020 after he stepped down as a working royal and moved to the United States with his family.
Prince Harry claimed that the decision was influenced by the Royal Household, which he believes was trying to keep him and his family out of the UK. “I would love a reconciliation with my family,” he said, “there’s no point continuing to fight anymore, life is precious.”
A Complex Security Situation
The prince’s security situation is complex due to his high-profile status and the threats he faces. Prince Harry argued that the committee responsible for deciding his security, the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), did not follow proper procedures in making its decision.
He claimed that the committee was biased against him and that the Royal Household had “interference” in the decision-making process.

The Court of Appeal ruled that while Prince Harry had made “powerful” arguments about the level of threat he and his family face, his “sense of grievance” did not “translate into a legal argument”. Harry said he was disappointed by the ruling and felt “let down” by the process.
A Call for Change
Despite the court defeat, Prince Harry is calling for a change in the way the Ravec committee operates. He wants the UK Prime Minister and Home Secretary to intervene in his security case and to overhaul the committee’s processes.
“Whether you’re the government, the Royal Household, whether you’re my dad, my family – despite all of our differences, do you not want to just ensure our safety?” he asked.
Harry said he would not seek further legal action, saying “this has proven that there was no way to win this through the courts”. Instead, he will write to the Home Secretary to “ask her to urgently examine the matter and review the Ravec process”.
The prince’s situation highlights the challenges faced by high-profile individuals in balancing security needs with personal freedom.
