Zenith Bank Shareholders Approve ₦5.00 Dividend at AGM

Shareholders of Zenith Bank Plc gathered at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, for the 34th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

They approved a final dividend payment of ₦4.00 per share, bringing the total for 2024 to ₦5.00 per share. The total payout stands at ₦195.67 billion.

The Founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia, CFR, thanked shareholders for their continued support. He said, “Despite global challenges in 2024, Zenith Bank leveraged available opportunities to strengthen its brand.”

Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, addressed shareholders for the first time in her role. She appreciated their trust, saying, “Zenith Bank is committed to exceeding expectations. We ensure our institution remains resilient for generations.”

Shareholders Celebrate Bank’s Growth

Shareholders expressed their happiness with the bank’s financial performance. Dr. Faruk Umar, President of the Association of the Rights of Nigerian Shareholders (AARNS), praised the bank’s leadership. He noted, “The GMD/CEO, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, has done very well. Our profits have reached trillions—unprecedented growth.”

Alhaji Otunba Mukhtar Mukhtar, Chairman of the Trusted Shareholders Association of Nigeria, observed that the bank has been consistent with dividend payouts over the years. “Zenith Bank has kept its promise, making shareholders wealthier. We are excited about this success.”

Ambassador Dr. Olatunde Okelana described Zenith Bank investment as “the best choice. Their dividend policy is unmatched, and leadership is outstanding.”

Chief Timothy Adesiyan, President of the Shareholders Solidarity Association of Nigeria, called Zenith Bank “a very reliable institution.” He added, “Keeping investments in Zenith Bank allows shareholders to rest easy, knowing their wealth is secured.”

Financial Highlights

Zenith Bank reported an 86% growth in gross earnings, reaching ₦3.97 trillion in 2024, up from ₦2.13 trillion in the previous year.

Interest income rose by 138%, fueled by strategic investments and loan expansion. Customer deposits surged by 45%, while total assets increased by 47%.

Zenith Bank continues to receive industry recognition.

The bank was named Nigeria’s Number One Bank by Tier-1 Capital for the fifteenth consecutive year and won multiple awards, including Bank of the Year in The Banker’s global rankings.
