Former Winners Chapel VP David Abioye Launches New Ministry

David Abioye, former vice-president of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), is set to begin Sunday morning services on May 4 following his retirement from the church in October 2024.

His departure was in line with a new administrative policy that set the mandatory retirement age for church leaders at 55 years. At the time, Abioye was 63, while fellow retiree Thomas Aremu was 67.

The policy also introduced term limits for future leaders, restricting them to one or two seven-year terms, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees (BoT).

Transition to a New Ministry

Since retiring, Abioye has been leading a non-denominational ministry that previously held Sunday evening fellowships.

However, during the April 27 gathering, he announced a shift to Sunday morning services, starting at 8 a.m..

“Very important information. From next Sunday by the grace of God, our service is migrating to morning. Hallelujah. And the time is 8am. God bless you mightily in Jesus’ name,” he declared.

Abioye has consistently stated that his ministry was founded on divine instruction, rather than personal ambition. He has urged members to seek personal revival as a foundation for collective renewal.

Abioye’s transition has drawn attention, particularly given his long-standing role in Living Faith Church under Bishop David Oyedepo.

His new ministry, which has been gathering momentum, is expected to attract a significant following, and could well be on the way to becoming another mega church in Nigeria.
