The Edo State Government has told property owners in six areas of Edo South to verify and re-certify their land papers.
The exercise starts on May 1 and ends on May 30, 2025.
According to the government, it’s part of efforts to clean up land records and stop land-related disputes.
The affected layouts are Etete Government Layout, Iyekogba Housing Estate, Evbuoriaria Layout, Ikpoba River Dam Acquisition, Oka-Oseni/Egba/Okanaruovia, and Evbuodia Acquisition.
Dr. Tony Ikpasaja, boss of the Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS), released the statement.
“All property owners in these areas must come to the EDOGIS office at Plot 102, Sapele Road, Benin City,” he said.
He warned that anyone who fails to show up could face delays or issues in the future.
Edo Polytechnic Staff Get Long-Awaited Salaries
Governor Monday Okpebholo also approved the payment of five months’ salary arrears to Edo State Polytechnic staff in Usen.
The payment also includes their April 2025 salary, all paid using the new ₦70,000 minimum wage.
The state made the payments just before the Easter holiday.
Fred Itua, the Governor’s spokesperson, said the move was part of a larger plan to fix the school’s problems.
“The Polytechnic’s salary is now handled directly by the state government,” Itua said.
“This will stop delays and make the system more transparent.”
Workers at the Polytechnic had complained since October 2024 about unpaid salaries and poor treatment.
They said they hadn’t received salaries since May 2024 and were angry about being left out of benefits others got.
The Polytechnic staff also said they didn’t get the special academic salary scale or the old minimum wage increase.
Okpebholo’s move has been welcomed as a sign that the school is back on the right path.
The state hopes this will bring stability to the institution and end protests from its staff.
