Some unknown men, carrying cutlasses and guns, attacked the family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Obeiba-Ihima, located in the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The attackers, believed to be at least three in number, stormed the house and damaged several parts of the building. They shattered windows and tried to gain access to the main part of the house.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Chief Security Officer, Yakubu Ovanja, confirmed the event. He told security agents what happened and filed an official report.

“They arrived quietly in the middle of the night, armed with cutlasses and guns,” he reportedly said. “They began destroying things and threatening anyone in sight.”

Ovanja, however, added, “We’ve beefed up security around the residence and notified local vigilante groups to be on alert.”

Police Respond and Begin Investigations

After the alert was raised, officers from the Okehi Police Division rushed to the scene. They documented the damage and have started an initial investigation.

So far, no one has been arrested, and there are no reports of injuries.

A senior police officer, who spoke anonymously, said, “We are not sure what the attackers were after. The investigation is ongoing.”

While this is the first such incident reported at the Senator’s family house, her campaign office in 2023 had similarly been attacked by hoodlums.

Many residents of Obeiba-Ihima were frightened by the incident. Some say they fear it could be a warning or a political message ahead of local elections scheduled for later in the year.

Senator Natasha, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly, but is now suspended, has raised alarm about her safety in recent times.

She alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accuses of sexual harassment, is after her life. She provided no evidence to the effect.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has not released any public statement about the attack as of the time this report was written.
