Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied an online report claiming he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
The report, titled ‘Tinubu will win 2027 presidential election – Goodluck Jonathan’, alleged that Jonathan said no coalition could stop Tinubu’s re-election. It also claimed he made the statement in Seoul, South Korea, while receiving the 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize.
Jonathan’s Special Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, dismissed the report as fake news in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
“The attention of the Media Office of His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2010-2015) has been drawn to a piece of false information with the above title, currently spreading on a segment of the social media,” Eze wrote.
He added, “This is fake news fabricated by agents of disinformation. At no point did Dr. Jonathan speak to any journalist on the forthcoming 2027 elections.”
The statement clarified that Jonathan had not made any comments about the 2027 elections or Tinubu’s chances of re-election.
