UK Govt. List 58 Nigerians Among Thousands of Unclaimed Estates in the UK

The UK government has published an updated list of unclaimed estates belonging to individuals from different countries who died in the UK.

The list, known as “Bona Vacantia,” includes 58 Nigerians. These estates remain unclaimed, making them the property of the Crown until rightful heirs step forward.

On Monday, March 24, the UK government released data showing that a total of 5,806 people from different nationalities died without anyone claiming their assets.

The list contains the names, birth and death dates, and locations where these individuals passed away.

Many Nigerians on the list may have lost touch with family members back home. The UK government regularly updates the register, allowing potential heirs to claim estates if they can prove their relationship to the deceased.

How to Claim an Unclaimed Estate

If you recognize a name on this list and believe you are a relative of the deceased, you may be entitled to claim the estate. To do this, you must provide proof of your relationship.

The UK government website has more details on how to submit a claim. Estates that remain unclaimed for many years may permanently pass to the Crown.
