The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in Abuja on behalf of the government.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims across the country on completing the Ramadan fast. “We celebrate with our Muslim brothers and sisters as they mark this important occasion. May the blessings of Ramadan bring peace and prosperity to our nation,” he said.
The Minister asked Nigerians to use this period to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and progress.
He urged Muslims to uphold the values of Ramadan, including self-discipline, compassion, and generosity. “Love, forgiveness, and solidarity should guide our interactions to build a stronger and united Nigeria,” he added.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo called for responsible celebrations, reminding citizens to extend kindness to the less privileged, saying giving back to society through charity is a core principle of Eid-el-Fitr.
Security agencies are on high alert to ensure a peaceful celebration nationwide. The government has also assured Nigerians of adequate security arrangements to protect lives and property during the holiday.
On behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister wished all Muslims a joyous Eid-el-Fitr. “May this festive season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to everyone. Eid Mubarak!” he concluded.
