The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) admissions in eight universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision follows the suspension of the LL.B programme in those schools by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for violating regulatory procedures.
JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin said the affected institutions are Kwara State University, Malete; Bingham University, Karu; Redeemers University, Ede; Western Delta University, Oghara; Taraba State University, Jalingo; Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike; and Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil.
The law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will be suspended for the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.
“As a result, JAMB will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enrol in the Law programme at the aforementioned universities for the 2025/2026 academic session,” Benjamin said in his statement.
A source in one of the affected universities admitted to some infraction saying, “We violated the admission quota some five years ago. We are being punished alongside the listed universities as a deterrent to future violators.“
The CLE suspended the LL.B programmes in the affected universities due to non-compliance with admission quotas and other regulatory standards. The CLE accredits law faculties and ensures they meet the required standards for producing eligible graduates.
The affected universities have been instructed to rectify the violations and comply with the set standards before the suspension can be lifted.
