The flamboyant former senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God‘s (RCCG) City of David Parish, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, has launched a new ministry called The Family Fellowship in Lagos.
In a viral video, Iluyomade is seen with members during their inaugural service at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Sunday, January 19, amid joyous dancing and jubilation.
Announcing the new ministry on Instagram, Iluyomade invited the public to attend the fellowship. “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us at the Civic Centre tomorrow for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience,” he wrote.
It may be recalled that JolibaLive News! reported on the suspension of the Iluyomade from RCCG in June 2024.
The suspension followed heated criticisms over the timing of his wife, Pastor Siju’s, 60th birthday celebration, which took place shortly after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe.
The late Wigwe, formerly the CEO of Access Bank plc, was reportedly a financial pillar of the ministry and the building of its exotic ₦10 billion City of David edifice in Victoria Island.
Wigwe died in a helicopter crash in the United States on February 9, 2024.
Following the backlash, the RCCG Governing Council convened a panel to investigate the matter. In June 2024, Iluyomade and his wife were suspended for three months and reassigned to worship at the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta.
The couple’s suspension drew further attention after they were disinvited from the Wigwe family’s funeral.
