BMW has revealed its latest iDrive infotainment system at the 2025 CES technology show in Las Vegas. This revolutionary system features a massive screen that spans the entire width of the car, providing a unique and immersive driving experience.
The new iDrive system is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, focusing on simplicity, intuition, and customization. The system boasts a trio of new displays, including a “Panoramic Vision” display that projects information onto the windshield with a 3D effect.
This display is split into three sections, providing the driver with essential information, such as speed and driving mode, and offering customization options for music, phone calls, and navigation.

The system can be controlled using the curiously shaped touchscreen on the steering wheel, voice commands, or buttons. The rotary dial in the centre console, a staple of previous iDrive systems, has been eliminated, streamlining the interface and reducing driver distraction.
“We’re excited to bring this new technology to our customers,” said a BMW spokesperson. “Our goal is to provide a seamless and intuitive driving experience that sets us apart from the competition.”

The new iDrive system will be available in all new BMW models from the end of 2025, starting with the iX3 electric SUV and then the next BMW 3 Series.
This is BMW’s response to the growing challenge from Chinese electric car manufacturers, who have been gaining ground in the global market with their innovative designs and advanced technology.
