Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to signing a new, groundbreaking contract extension with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, worth an astounding €200 million.
The 39-year-old Portuguese superstar joined the Saudi club in January 2023 following his acrimonious departure from Manchester United. He is set to extend his contract beyond the current expiration date at the end of the season.
The new deal will see Ronaldo earn around €3.8 million per week, with an additional €60 million coming from image rights. This will make him the highest-paid footballer in the world.
This contract extension will reportedly run until June 2026, which aligns perfectly with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which could mark Ronaldo’s final international bow.
Since joining Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has been nothing short of prolific, netting 75 goals in 84 appearances. His performances have brought his career tally to an extraordinary 917 goals, bringing him tantalisingly close to his goal of reaching 1,000 career strikes1. Ronaldo has also contributed 18 assists during his time with Al-Nassr.
Meteoric Achievements
Despite his success, Ronaldo won only one trophy with Al-Nassr—the 2023 Arab Club Championship. He has missed two title tilts, Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal.
Ronaldo has expressed his desire for Al-Nassr to strengthen its squad to compete more effectively in the Saudi Pro League. He has personally requested the signing of Casemiro from Manchester United to bolster the team.

Ronaldo’s journey to Saudi Arabia was not without its challenges. In a Netflix documentary, he admitted that adapting to the new culture was difficult. Still, he praised the Saudi people’s friendliness and shared ambition to succeed, saying, “Adapting to the new culture was difficult, but the Saudi people have been very friendly and supportive.“
He assured he is in Saudi Arabia to win trophies and leave a lasting legacy.
If his contract extension goes through, it will ensure his legacy continues to grow. With his incredible work ethic and determination, Ronaldo is on the way to becoming football’s all-time greatest.
