President Bola Tinubu will participate in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025), according to a statement from the Presidency.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced that President Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, January 11, to honor an invitation from the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The summit will take place in Abu Dhabi from January 12 to 18 and aims to bring together global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and promote socioeconomic progress. This year’s theme is “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,” which will allow policymakers, business leaders, and representatives from civil society to explore pathways for advancing the transformation to a sustainable economy and creating a new era of prosperity for all.
“ADSW, which has been held annually for over 15 years, serves as a testament to the power of collaboration,” the statement noted. “It provides a global platform for fostering multi-stakeholder cooperation in addressing global challenges and promoting growth.” The event has led to significant agreements and strategic partnerships among governments, industry leaders, and global clean energy innovators, driving impactful alliances and advancing sustainability.
During the event, President Tinubu will discuss his administration’s reforms in “energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development,” among others. The president’s team will also meet with Emirati leaders to discuss “issues of mutual interest affecting both nations.”
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and other senior government officials will accompany the President.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Thursday, January 16.
