Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill of ₦375,790,077,618.15 into law on Monday. The State House of Assembly had passed the budget, titled “Budget of Sustainable Impact.“
During a ceremony at the Governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji thanked the lawmakers for their quick action.
The governor believes “The budget would revive the state’s economy and further drive the shared prosperity agenda of my administration” by enhancing productivity and creating an attractive environment for investors.
He promised that his government would address infrastructure deficits and ensure food security.
The budget prioritized agriculture, food security, wealth creation, and infrastructure development for 2025. The governor said it will help complete ongoing projects and support the state’s economic transformation.
He also emphasized his commitment to the January to December budget cycle and expressed satisfaction at achieving the goal this year. The governor presented the budget to the House on October 29, 2024.
The governor said the 2025 budget was “a product of wide consultation with the people of Ekiti state” and was prepared “based on our expected economic reality over the next one year. It also aligns with fiscal discipline, fiscal principle of transparency, accountability and inclusivity.“
Governor Oyebanji commended President Bola Tinubu for reforms that have increased state funding. “Successful implementation of the budget depends on the availability of funds,” he said, acknowledging the improvements in revenue from the federal account.
This is the third appropriation act signed by Mr Oyebanji since coming into office in 2022.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye described the budget as a testament to the state’s commitment to its residents’ welfare.
