Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the appointment of Mr. Benson Ojeikere as the new Head of the Abia State Civil Service.
This announcement follows a rigorous merit-based selection process.
Mr. Ojeikere’s appointment is set to take effect on December 31, 2024.
In his statement, Governor Otti congratulated Mr. Ojeikere on his appointment. He expressed confidence in his ability to deliver exceptional service to the state.
He also commended the outgoing Head of Service, Dr Ngozi Queen Obioma, for her remarkable contributions to the Abia State Civil Service as she proceeded on statutory retirement.
The appointment was announced by Prof. Kenneth Kalu, FCA, Secretary to the Abia State Government.
Mr. Ojeikere is not even from Abia State. He is from Edo State in the South-South of Nigeria, which challenges the rest of the country to focus on merit in talent recruitment rather than primordial sectarian sentiments that often deliver poor and inefficient service.
