New Jersey residents have noticed the strange lights in the night sky and have been reporting for the past month.
Videos abound showing groups of lights resembling drones circling the state. The sightings have now spread to New York and Maryland.
Who or what, then, is responsible for the strange sightings is still unknown?
Federal authorities have tried to reassure residents that the objects don’t appear to be operating nefariously. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security have said such sightings mostly appear to be drones.

“Historically, we have experienced cases of mistaken identity, where reported drones are, in fact, manned aircraft or facilities,” the agencies said in a joint statement, trying to calm anxious citizens.
Meanwhile, New Jersey lawmakers say they believe there is more to the enigmatic objects looming over their area.
Conspiracy Theories Swirl
One conspiracy theory is that it might be a deliberate distraction by a foreign power trying to hide other nefarious activities in the US, one expert suggested.
The expert is Gordon Chang, a senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute think-tank and author of “Plan Red: China’s Project to Destroy America”. He reasons that “These drones and this activity are too large, too well-organized to be the work of hobbyists.”
“It could be Iran, it could be Iran in connection with China, but clearly, somebody is trying to absorb our attention,” he claimed of the numerous sightings of the well-lit drones.
“The thing that worries me is that if they’re trying to draw our attention to these drones, the question is, what are they doing elsewhere in our country? So we could very well get hit,” warned Chang.
The Pentagon has denied any involvement from Iran or other adversaries to avoid sparking an unintended war. But even it with its massive infrastructure have given no definitive explanation to the occurrences.
There have been at least 3,000 sightings reported in the Garden State this December alone.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it began receiving reports since November 18.
The mysterious drone sightings first gained widespread attention after a medical helicopter was forced to turn around due to their presence in the skies. Initially, the Biden administration downplayed the incidents, suggesting that most sightings could be attributed to misidentifications of planes and helicopters.
But there are indications the government might know more than it is willing to admit to citizens.
As tensions escalated, New York Governor Kathy Hochul angrily declared it was time to take action. He called on the Congress to pass the Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act which can grant the state’s law enforcement agencies greater authority to address the issue.
But the question is, why are these strange events happening close to Christmas, the recognized birth time of Jesus Christ?
And in the days and weeks to come, apocalyptic interpretations are sure to emerge to join the frenzy.
