Aero Contractors, one of Nigeria’s domestic airlines, has slashed airfares over this Christmas.
The airline says the “pocket-friendly Christmas prices” will end in January after the holiday season.
Tickets to all destinations have been pegged at the disruptive price of ₦80,000. The promotional price is already available to the travelling public.
At a press conference on Tuesday in Lagos, the Managing Director and CEO, Ado Sanusi, said the spirit behind the slash is to “give back to Nigerians and support them during the Christmas season.”
He said the airline understood the pain Nigerians experience and the economic hardship they endure, hence the gesture.
“These prices are designed to allow Nigerians to travel to all our destinations without paying too much.
“And this is in the spirit of giving, which is the spirit of Christmas. We believe that as a company, this is just a very old history of understanding its customers. We think it’s time for us to give back to our customers”.
The airline, one of Nigeria’s oldest, was registered in Nigeria in 1960. It started as a charter helicopter service before transforming into a commercial airline in the 2000s.
Its business has come under immense competition from newer airliners like Air Peace and Ibom Air.
Mr Sanusi said his airline is set to attract foreign investors to boost its current fleet size from 7 to 10.
