Cybercrime Bust: 113 Foreign Nationals Caught in Nigeria’s Biggest Online Sting Operation!

The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned 113 foreign nationals in Abuja for alleged cybercrime activities. The suspects were arrested on November 3 in Jahi, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

According to Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrest followed an operation conducted by the National Cyber Crime Centre and Zone 7 Command.

Police recovered various brands’ of sophisticated digital equipment, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and routers.

The suspects face serious charges, including computer-related fraud, unlawful access to data, marketing scams, money laundering, conspiracy, and illegal immigration.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun confirmed the arrest and prosecution of the suspects, citing the growing global threat posed by cross-border cybercriminal syndicates.

Egbetokun reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring perpetrators face justice. “We will continue to combat cybercrime and other forms of transnational criminal activity, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable under Nigerian law,” he said.

The police also recovered other items, including a Black Toyota Tundra vehicle, gaming consoles like the Sony PlayStation 5, high-capacity servers, drones, and specialized cybercrime tools.

International passports, identity cards, SIM cards from various service providers, and travel documents were also seized.

The operation represents a big step in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to safeguard its cyberspace and prosecute those exploiting it for illicit gain.
