Governor Caleb Mutfwang presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill, titled “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability,” to the Plateau State House of Assembly on Monday, November 25.

The proposed budget for 2025 is ₦471,134,093,541.00, an increase of ₦156,278,944,988.00 from the previous year.

Recurrent Expenditure in the budget has an allocation of ₦201,522,433,264.00 or 43.46%, while Capital Expenditure is ₦269,611,660,277.00 or 56.54%.

During his presentation speech, Mr Mutfwang said, “This budget reflects our dedication to building on previous successes and fostering ongoing development in Plateau State.” He noted that the budget’s goal is to improve the lives of the state’s citizens.

The Medium-Term Expenditure Framework/Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) for 2025–2027 accompanies the bill.

The implementation of the budget will follow the Plateau Strategic Development Framework (PSDF) 2023–2027, which focuses on three main areas: Peace, Security, and Good Governance; sustainable economic rebirth; and Infrastructure Development.

The MTEF/FSP outlines the administration’s fiscal strategies for driving economic growth through diversification, public sector reform, human capital enhancement, infrastructure improvements, and sustainable housing initiatives.

Regarding the MTEF/FSP, the governor added, “The MTEF/FSP sets out a three-year fiscal framework which lays the groundwork for the 2025 budget, aligning with the Plateau State Fiscal Responsibility Law of 2014.

He assured that the document would be a practical resource for promoting transparency and accountability in governance.

Mr Mutfwang urged the Assembly to pass the bill swiftly, saying the quick approval would allow for the timely commencement of essential projects.

Speaker Gabriel Dewan reassured him of the Assembly’s dedication to effectively serving Plateau State’s interests.
