On Sunday, November 24, the mega Christian church in Dallas, Texas—The Potter’s House—was thrown into a frenzy when Senior Pastor and founder Bishop T.D. Jake experienced a health issue during his sermon.
The 67-year-old pastor appeared frail and tired as he spoke while seated, instead of his usual energetic style of walking on the altar and through the congregation.
A video captured the scary moments when the pastor’s frame appeared to weaken, and he lowered his microphone.
“I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching,” he told the congregation, then added, rather oddly, “I miss you.”
He then shared a thought-provoking statement: “Have you ever gone to a hospital to visit somebody and you thought it was going to encourage them, and they encourage you? That’s what preaching is like.” He continued, “You think you’re giving out something; you’re getting back more than you gave.”
Next, he quoted Psalm 19:14, saying, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace.”
After that, he fell silent and appeared to have a spasm, lowering his head. It became clear he needed help.
Attendees rushed to assist him, and a speaker urged the audience to pray as he received help.
Potter’s House Reacts
Later, the church released a statement confirming that Bishop Jakes experienced “a slight health incident” and was receiving medical attention but did not disclose where.
In a subsequent social media post, the church reassured everyone that “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals.”
They expressed gratitude for the community’s “outpouring of love, prayers, and support.”

Jakes established his 30,000-member megachurch, The Potter’s House, in Dallas in 1996 and is considered one of the most influential and wealthiest preachers in the world.
