Former Labour Party presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi has again praised two young Nigerian achievers who are making waves globally.
Obi, a strong advocate for youth empowerment and education, highlighted the inspiring stories of 12-year-old Eniola Shokunbi and 15-year-old David Akiogbe. Shokunbi, a Nigerian girl based in Connecticut, USA, designed an air filter to reduce the spread of airborne diseases in schools, earning her an impressive $11.5 million in funding from the Connecticut State Bond Commission.
Akiogbe, on the other hand, achieved a remarkable score of 1580 on his Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT), confirmed by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Both young achievers are poised to excel globally, bringing honor and inspiration to Nigeria.
Obi, whose political philosophy seems heavily hinged on education as the driver for Nigeria’s transformation, said that Miss Shokunbi and Mr. Akiogbe were merely symbols of the vast untapped potential of millions of other Nigerian children crying for opportunity. He stressed the need for leaders to invest in education, allowing youths to explore their talents, develop their skills, and contribute productively to the nation’s development.
“I have repeatedly stated that my continual support for education across the country stems from my unwavering belief that with the right investments in our youths, they will be able to explore their talents, develop their skills, and contribute productively to the development of our nation while excelling on the global stage,” Obi stated.
As a former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate, Obi has consistently championed education and youth empowerment. His vision for a “New Nigeria” is built on harnessing the potential of young Nigerians to drive positive change and development.
Regarding young starlets Eniola Shokunbi and David Akiogbe, Obi remarked aptly, “With such future stars on the horizon, I am very confident that a New Nigeria is possible.”
