The Miss Universe 2024 pageant started with a vibrant national costume competition featuring about 130 contestants at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Each contestant showcased looks representing their homelands, drawing inspiration from folk arts, deities, and national symbols.
Highlights included Miss Nicaragua, Geyssell García, dressed as León Cathedral, and Miss Kenya, Irene Mukii, representing notable athletes in her costume. Miss Chile Emilia Dides paid homage to the TV show “Sábado Gigante” with a roulette wheel outfit, while Miss Bangladesh Aniqa Alam embraced a tiger theme.
