President Bola Tinubu made four appointments to strategic positions in his government today, Thursday, November 14.
According to a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, the appointees are:
- Mr. Olawale Olopade as Director-General of the National Sports Commission
- Dr. Abisoye Fagade as Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism
- Dr. Adebowale Adedokun as Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement
- Daniel Bwala as Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media
Onanuga described the appointees as highly qualified individuals with a wealth of experience in their respective fields.
“Olopade, the new Director-General of the National Sports Commission, is a sports administrator with many years of experience in the sector,” he said.
He highlighted Dr. Abisoye Fagade’s expertise as a marketing communication professional and founder of Sodium Brand Solutions.
Dr. Adebowale Adedokun was praised for his experience as Director of Research/Training and Strategic Planning at the Bureau of Public Procurement before his appointment.
Worthy of special note was the appointment of Daniel Bwala as the Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media. His appointment has been a subject of speculation since he distanced himself from the presidential campaign of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after his party lost the 2023 election.
He has been making favorable commentaries about the president and his government through public interviews and social media.
Mr. Daniel Bwala is a lawyer and notable public affairs analyst. He may be de facto the new government spokesman after Mr. Ajuri Ngelale’s sudden resignation on September 7, citing a medical emergency in his family.
President Tinubu has charged the newly appointed officers to discharge their duties with dedication, patriotism, and excellence.
