Bright Echefu, the founder of Telecom Satellites Limited (TSTV), recently launched a new Pay TV service called LUFT TV in Abuja. With this new venture, he hopes to provide television viewers with HD-quality entertainment across Nigeria and West Africa, using cutting-edge technology and flexible subscription plans.
His previous offering, TSTV, which debuted in 2017, faced challenges since its inception and experienced several service interruptions before finally going off the radar in 2023.
Echefu assured that TSTV was not dead and promised that current TSTV subscribers would soon be transitioned to LUFT TV. He said his new service is now committed to local content and entertainment that reflects Nigerian culture.
At least two governors attended the launch event: Abdullahi A. Sule of Nasarawa State and Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State. They praised Echefu for his vision and encouraged support for LUFT TV, highlighting the importance of affordable options for viewers. Mr. Sule described Echefu as “a focused individual with a great mind.”
TSTV, which launched as a competitor to the South African Multichoice monopoly, is currently embroiled in legal issues of alleged fraud amounting to N380 million with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Echefu clarified that it is merely a business loan dispute between his company and Mr. Tanimu, MD of Kalsiyam Global.
