The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has agreed with Dangote Refinery to acquire products directly, according to IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima.
He announced the agreement in Abuja on Monday following a meeting of the Association’s National Working Committee, saying it will guarantee a consistent and affordable supply of PMS products across the nation.
“After discussions with Alh. Aliko Dangote and his management team in Lagos, we are happy to announce that Dangote Refinery has consented to provide IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK directly for distribution to our depots and retail locations,” Garima said.
He asked IPMAN members to support Dangote Refinery, mentioning the benefits of backward integration and its positive effects on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
“IPMAN members should depend on Dangote Refinery and Nigerian Refineries for white products, generating more job opportunities and bolstering President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.”
Concerning pricing, Garima said he was optimistic that discussions with Dangote would result in lower rates.
The Dangote Refinery, located in Lagos, is the largest in Africa and Europe, with a crude oil refining capacity of 650,000 bpd. It is already producing diesel and aviation fuel. The company insists its refining capacity can satisfy Nigerian and West African consumption demands.
This initiative is expected to cut out intermediaries, lower costs, and ensure a reliable supply.
Compressed Natural Gas
Regarding Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), the IPMAN President said the Association is preparing for a smooth transition to CNG refill stations throughout the country.
“CNG holds significant potential to enhance Nigeria’s economy. IPMAN is devoted to backing this initiative and collaborating with the Federal Government for its success.”
This partnership is anticipated to boost efficiency, affordability, and economic growth within Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
IPMAN has about 30,000 members and operates well over 150,000 retail outlets nationwide.
