Pakistani police report the death of at least 26 people from a bomb blast at the railway station in Quetta city, located in southwestern Pakistan, early on Saturday, November 9. Those with varied degrees of injuries are 46.
About 14 of the dead are Pakistani Army soldiers.
Muhammad Akram, a local police official, gave the breakdown to reporters shortly ago.
The incident appears to be a suicide bombing, which targeted a ticket counter at the station.
Initial reports suggest the blast occurred as the train prepared to depart for Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Considering the typically high foot traffic at the station, officials are concerned that the casualty count might increase.
Police and rescue personnel swiftly reached the site as emergency protocols were activated at Quetta’s Civil Hospital, with extra doctors and support staff deployed to aid the victims.
Pakistan has faced 785 terrorist incidents during the first ten months of 2024 alone. It caused 951 fatalities in all and 966 injuries.

Although there has been a decrease in terrorist attacks and bombings in Pakistan, October emerged as the second-deadliest month of the year, with death tolls rising to 198, including 98 terrorists, 62 security personnel, and 38 civilians.
