Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) in Nigeria have announced a price increase for electricity meters. It will be the second time of such price hikes in four months.
The cost of a single-phase meter has risen from N117,000 to as high as N149,800, an increase of 28.03 percent. The new prices took effect on November 5, 2024, following the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) ‘s deregulation of meter asset providers.
For example, Eko DisCo’s single-phase meters are now priced between N135,987.5 and N161,035, while three-phase meters range from N226,600 to N266,600. Ibadan DisCo prices vary for single-phase meters from N130,998 to N142,548 and for three-phase meters from N226,556.25 to N232,008.
Abuja DisCo’s prices for single-phase meters range from N123,130.53 to N206,500, while three-phase meters are priced between N127,345.65 and N223,500. Kano DisCo sets single-phase meters between N131,925 and N129,999, with three-phase meters priced from N223,793 to N235,425.
Kaduna DisCo’s prices for single-phase meters range from N131,150 to N142,548.94, while three-phase meters cost between N220,375 and N232,008.04.
