Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, has approved the immediate relocation of the Umuahia campus of Abia State University, Uturu, back to the main campus at Uturu. The Faculty of Law will remain in Umuahia until it completes its ongoing accreditation process and will relocate afterward.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this during a press briefing at Government House, Umuahia, following this week’s Executive Council meeting chaired by the Governor. He explained that this decision is part of the reform agenda outlined in the white paper report of the institution’s visitation panel.
“Except for the Faculty of Law, which is undergoing accreditation, all other departments and faculties in Umuahia should return to Uturu. Once accreditation is complete, they will also relocate back,” Kanu said.
He emphasized that consolidating campuses in one location would enhance students’ learning experience. The Commissioner for Tertiary Education has been tasked with ensuring full compliance with this relocation.
