Poland🇵🇱 fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a thrilling 3-3 draw against Croatia🇭🇷 in their Nations League encounter at the National Stadium.
“We were aggressive from the start,” said Poland’s coach, Probierz, after the match.
Captain Piotr Zieliński opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but Croatia responded with three goals in six minutes. Borna Sosa equalized in the 19th minute, followed by Petar Sucic and Martin Baturina’s strikes.
However, Nicola Zalewski’s stunning goal just before halftime gave Poland hope. “The true anti-hero of the first half was Paweł Dawidowicz, whose mistakes contributed to Croatia’s goals,” noted Probierz.
In the second half, Marcin Bułka made several excellent saves, and Robert Lewandowski’s introduction sparked Poland’s equalizer. Sebastian Szymański scored in the 68th minute, assisted by Lewandowski.
Croatia’s Dominik Livaković was sent off in the 76th minute for fouling Lewandowski, but Poland failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage.
The draw keeps Poland’s chances alive for advancing to the quarterfinals, three points behind second-placed Croatia.
