Mbappé swiftly denied the allegations, labeling them “fake news” on social media platform X.
He suggested that the timing of the report was suspicious, as it coincided with his upcoming hearing against former club Paris Saint-Germain over unpaid wages.
The investigation is reportedly centered on an incident alleged to have occurred at the Bank Hotel, where Mbappé stayed during his visit to Sweden.
Swedish law enforcement has clarified that the level of suspicion is “reasonable,” which is the lower degree of suspicion in their jurisdiction.
Mbappé’s entourage released a statement condemning the allegations as “completely false and irresponsible” and vowed to take necessary legal action to protect his image.
France coach Didier Deschamps expressed concern about the report’s negative impact on the national team, emphasizing the importance of responsible reporting and verification.
