Ogunnaike Philip, a 29-year-old suspected serial kidnapper, has been arrested for killing at least three young girls in separate incidents in Ogun State.
The victims included 18-year-old Akinsanya Habibat, 22-year-old Abigail Dina, and 23-year-old Mary Ogunyemi. Philip’s method involved luring his victims into the forest, tying them up, strangling them, and abandoning their bodies after stealing their phones and valuables.
Philip had escaped from the Ibara Correctional Centre two years ago while being taken to court for an armed robbery case. He confessed to the crimes and led police to the locations where the victims were murdered.

In one incident, Philip abducted Dina, a nurse, and demanded a ransom of N50,000 from her family. He also killed his neighbor’s daughter, Ogunyemi, and his employer’s daughter, Akinsanya. The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed Philip’s arrest and confession.
Mr. Ogunnaike Philip’s alleged psychopathic actions pose a big threat to vulnerable members of our communities. It is hoped that the justice system will address this matter appropriately to ensure the safety and well-being of society.
