The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings indefinitely.
The party had scheduled the meetings for September 11 and 12 and had published advertorials urging members to attend.
Despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s approval, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, announced the postponement in a statement on September 9.
He did not give a reason for the postponement. However opposition parties have consistently accused the ruling party of not being a proper ideologically-founded organization, but a political special purpose vehicle (SUV) hurriedly cobbled together to win power in 2015.
Until now, the party has no constituted Board of Trustees and has often struggled to convene its NEC or hold conventions. It has had several party chairmen and acting chairmen in 9 years of existence.
APC was formed from amalgamation of several opposition parties in 2013.
