Yusuf Bello-Suleiman, a former deputy governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party in Kano State, has said the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission’s decision to impose nomination fees on aspirants across political parties for the October Local Government election in the State was overstepping its boundaries.

Therefore, he hailed the court’s recent judgment stopping the charge of nomination fees on aspirants, agreeing with the court’s verdict that the move was illegal under the law.

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission recently pegged nomination fees for aspirants for the office of chairmen and councilors positions for the local government election at ten million and five million naira, respectively, across political parties.

On the economic realities confronting Nigerians, Yusuf Bello said the PDP would have managed the energy crises rocking the country better than the APC-led government is doing.

He called on President Bola Tinubu not to progress in error in handling the economy but to immediately retrace his steps on the fuel subsidy removal by adopting the late President Musa Yar’Adua’s template of economic management.
