Nigerian🇳🇬 football star Victor Osimhen has finalized his move to Turkey🇹🇷, inking a deal with Turkish Super League club Galatasaray that will fetch him €6 million for the 2024-2025 season alone. That’s net earnings after all taxes and deductibles.💰💰
To put that in perspective, it comes to a head-smashing €115,000 every single week. In Nigerian terms, that’s N210 million every week, or N11 billion per annum, roughly the size of annual internal revenue of several states in Nigeria.
Osimhen’s move went off to a rocky start, with his preferred team, Chelsea, falling short of the expected fee and a mouth-watering offer from Saudi club Al Ahli collapsing at the last minus. For a while, the fate of the African Footballer of the Year hung in the balance until the loan offer from Galatasaray saved the day and possibly his career. The deal with Galatasaray has a clause for a possible extension of contact up to 2027. So, the ball is now in Victor’s feet to prove his mettle.
The 24-year-old blazing speed and energetic striker was received in Istanbul with celebration and fanfare. They even made a special musical video for him based on a hit song by Usher, which can be viewed here.
Victor has been assigned the jersey #45, which is another arithmetical way of retaining his treasured #9 shirt he spotted at Napoli. He will be the 6th Nigerian professional player to play for Galatasaray. 🎊⭐⚽🏆
