Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu is to depart for France today, according to a statement from the presidency.
Ajuri Ngelale, the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, announced on Sunday that the president will return to Nigeria after a brief working visit to the European country.
“President Bola Tinubu will embark on a trip to France on Monday, August 19, departing from Abuja, the nation’s capital. The President will return to the country after his brief work stay in France,” the statement read.
The presidential announcement did not indicate the specific purpose of the trip or how long the president would be away. However, the president has often visited France for medical and vacation purposes.
But he leaves at a time of severe energy crisis, with fuel products, which most of Nigeria’s transportation is based on, in complete scarcity.
