news ticker: Anambra State Releases Timetable for 2024 Local Government Elections

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2024 Local Government Council elections.

The full details were signed by Genevieve C. Osakwe Esq., the Chairman of ANSIEC.

The election process began with the issuing of the election notice on August 12, 2024. The full election timetable was made public on August 14, 2024.

Key dates include an interactive session with political party chairmen and stakeholders on August 15, 2024.

Political parties must notify the commission of the dates and venues for their ward and local government nomination exercises by August 22, 2024. The actual nomination exercises will occur between August 24 and 27, 2024. The final day for submitting nominated candidates’ names is September 3, 2024, and the campaign period will be from September 11 to September 26, 2024.

The election day is set for September 28, 2024, with potential run-off elections to occur within five days, if necessary.
