The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has on Monday August 12, released the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), according to a post on WAEC’s official social media page.
WASSCE certificate is a primary admission requirement into institutions of higher learning in Nigeria and other ECOWAS member countries.
The post from WAEC ‘X’ handle read, “WAEC is happy to let students who took the WASSCE for School Candidates in 2024 know that the results are now out.“
The Head of WAEC in Nigeria, Amos Dangut, also later briefed the press at the Council’s pressroom in Lagos.
He said 1,332,089 candidates achieved credits in five subjects, including any subjects with either Mathematics or English Language, and 1,301,949 candidates got credits in five subjects, including both Mathematics and English Language accounting for 72.9% of total candidates.
“WAEC is releasing its results today as out of 1,805, 216 that entered for exam, 1,332,089 candidates have credits in five subjects including any subjects with either Mathematics or English Language and 1,301,949 candidates got credits in five subjects including Mathematics and English Language accounting for 72.9% of total candidates.
“This is a 7.6% decrease in examination performance compared to last year of 2023 WASSCE. Also 215,267 results were withheld due to examination malpractice by the candidates. This accounts for 11.92% of the total number of candidates who wrote the examination,” Dangut said.

(This is your 7-digit Centre Number followed by your 3-digit Candidate Number eg. 4123456789). - For examination year < 1999, enter your 8-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 5-digit Centre Number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 19865001)
- Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2002
- Select the Type of Examination
- Enter the e-PIN Voucher Number
- Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your e-PIN
- Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.
