Former England Boss Steve McClaren Is the frontrunner for Nigeria’s Super Eagles Coach

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has reportedly inquired about the availability of former England manager Steve McClaren as the next Head Coach of the Super Eagles following Finidi George’s resignation in June.

Steve McClaren, currently serving as Manchester United’s assistant manager to Erik Ten Hag, has not commented on the rumored links, and he is currently in rehab after a training mishap earlier.

The man has had a promising career in management. He guided Middlesbrough to the League Cup and the UEFA Cup final. He has also been in charge of FC Twente. This is his second foray into United, having been an assistant to Sur Alex Ferguson in 1999.

However, in this case, some high-ranking officials in the NFF are said to have expressed concerns over his lack of experience with African teams.

Others in consideration are Herve Renard who coached Ivory Coast and Zambia, and Belgian coach, Tom Saintfiet.
