Governor Siminalayi Fubara Tuesday afternoon convened a security council meeting with heads of security services at Government House in Port Harcourt to address rising tension in the state.

JolibaLive News! reported the storming of various Local Government Area council offices on Tuesday by youths who forcefully expelled defiant former council chairmen that defied the governor’s orders to vacate after their tenures ended.

After the meeting, Governor Fubara addressed the media, reaffirming his commitment to law and order.

This is to assure everyone that whatever it takes to ensure we maintain peace and order, I stand by it.”

We have directed the heads of local governments to take charge as we await further instructions,” he stated.

He said he was saddened by reports of violence and incursions into some secretariates by hoodlums who took advantage of the chaotic situation.”It’s very unfortunate that we started hearing disturbing news from some local governments about the invasion of their council secretariat,” he said.

However, the governor alleged that he is ware “our enemy is planning a lot of things. We won’t allow them to demolish the state.”

“I Will Stand By You” – Fubara

Mr. Fubara said he would protect his supporters at all costs amid rumors of imminent mass arrests of protesters by the Nigerian security services. “If it costs us our lives to stand on the path of truth, we will go, and I will be the one to pay this price.

“I am aware of a grand plan to arrest some of our supporters”, he said, but “This time around, you have to pass through me to arrest them. I don’t think any of those following us have done anything wrong other than standing by our side.”

Governor stood his ground that the former chairmen had to go. “The law is the law; it says there is no extension of tenure. The court said so. Whoever assures anybody otherwise, advise them to desist from it, because peace is what we need for the state.
