In line with the presidential directive to Finance and Economy Minister, Wale Edun to work the numbers and come up with a minimum wage proposal for the government in its negotiation with the labour unions, it is being reported that the minister submitted his proposal to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu this morning.
Feelers from the Aso Villa, the seat of government, suggest the Minister recommended N105,000 as the new minimum wage.
However, this information has yet to be officially confirmed by government officials.
The minimum wage is the monthly salary below which no Nigerian employee should be paid. It is usually enacted as legislation after agreement.
As we await the outcome, reports suggest that Tinubu is currently examining the plan, and an official declaration is eagerly anticipated in the near future.

After months of intense negotiations, all parties involved demonstrated their commitment to finding a resolution. On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued a directive to Edun to fulfill their own half of the agreement, which was an important step in moving the negotiations forward.
