Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, has given Abia State a cutting-edge firefighting vehicle to improve the state’s firefighting capabilities.
Governor Alex Otti, received the gift in person on behalf of the state at a handover ceremony at government house, Umuahia – the state’s capital, on Friday.
The Innoson Made-in-Nigeria Fire Truck boasts high-end technology and excellent design. It was created to make firefighting more effective and safer for the operators. The fire truck has high-force water cannons, a long, extensible hose system, and several safety features. The manufacturer said it functions at top performance so firefighters can effectively contain fires outbreaks and save lives.
A delighted governor Alex Otti, in accepting the vehicle praised. He said IVM is an example of indigenous manufacturing with resilience and dedication.
Otti said the donation will not only improve the state’s firefighting capacity but also proves the potential of Nigerian industries. He said local manufacturing can reduce our dependence on foreign goods and promote a sense of pride in abilities.
“This generous donation from Innoson exemplifies the strength and capabilities of our local manufacturing sector,” Gov. Otti said. “But it also underscores the importance of investing in our own industries to meet our needs and foster economic growth. This act of corporate responsibility fills us with hope and optimism for the future of our economy.”
Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), located at Nnewi, Anambra State, is reputed as Nigeria’s first indigenous car manufacturing company. Its success, despite all odds, competing with foreign brands has challenged the stereotype about the capacity of indigenous high-tech manufacturing. Their breakthrough achievements has provided the launchpad on which other Nigerian car brands now confidently stand.
