The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) has announced a reduction in the electricity tariff for its Band A customers. The new tariff stands at N206.80 per kilowatt-hour, down from the N225/kWh previously approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Olufadeke Omo-Omorodion, spokesperson for IKEDC, gave this information via a notice issued on Monday.
The statement says the new tariff takes effect immediately Monday, May 6, 2024.

Public outcry since the price review has been high, especially with complaints of non-availability of power supply in the first place. The intention behind the modest price adjustment remains ambiguous, whether it’s merely a symbolic gesture to appease discontented customers or if there exists a business rationale driving the price alteration.
Tariff for other Bands; B, C, D, and E remain unchanged, the statement said.
Ikeja Electric covers the following districts of Lagos, Abule Egba, Akowonjo, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Oshodi and Shomolu. It is a distinct company from Eko Electricity Distribution Company which serves the rest of Lagos state.
