There were eruptions at the Emirates as Mikel Arteta‘s flying Gunners thrashed their London compatriots, Chelsea 5-0.
This is the biggest win of the derby in all seasons. By Tuesday’s victory Arsenal have strengthened their grip on the table, moving 3 points ahead of Liverpool and 4 points of Manchester City.
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring with a shot that fizzed along the surface and through Petrovic’s legs. The pass came from midfield maestro Declan Toce after he surged into Chelsea’s 18-yard area.
Been White made it 2-0. A baffling left-footed strike after Chelsea’s defenders improperly cleared the ball during a corner kick.
Then Kai Harvertz added insult to injury, being a former Blue. Despite his struggles with Marc Cucurella., he latched on to an exquisite ball from Martin Odegaard and fired the ball into the top corner to make it 3-0.
Then to add to the embarrassing tally, the slick Kai Harvetz’s wicked shot hit the crossbar then deflected into the net off a pass from Saka.

Ben White ended the scoring for the Gunners with a superbly cushioned volley into the top corner from a series of passes by the Arsenal team. The fifth goal dashed irredeemably any dreams Chelsea had about three points from the game or even one.
Chelsea entered the game without Cole Palmer – their top scorer and assist provider. He’s also the top goalscorer in the Premier League. Palmer is still down from a clash he had with Mauricio Pochettino of Tottenham recently.
Arsenal would hope to build on this momentum into their next game against their North London rivals Tottenham. Chelsea on the other hand battle Unai Emery‘s fourth placed Aston Villa – all on Saturday 27th of April.
