The second leg of the semi-finals of the Europa Champions League saw both Arsenal and Manchester City return to England, as they both lost 3-2 and 4-3 on penalties respectively.
First leg results for Arsenal and Bayern ended in a 2-all draw, with Kane getting on the score sheet for the 38th time in 39 appearances, and Serge Gnabry scoring against the Gunners, while Saka and Trossard responded for Arsenal.
Real Madrid and City played an exciting 3-3 draw in the first leg, with all 6 goals coming from outside the box. City took the lead with Bernardo Silva‘s free kick, and Real responded with Rodrygo and Dias’ own goal before the second half saw Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol‘s strikes leveled and gave City the edge until Valverde equalled the match for Real Madrid.
Going into the second legs, every team was confident, but a header from Joshua Kimmich stole Arsenal’s hopes of getting into the Champions League semi final since 2008-2009, with Bayern getting to their 13th semi final.
City and Madrid dueled to a 1-1 draw, with Rodrygo giving Madrid the lead before Kevin de Bruyne equalized tor City in the second half.
The game entered extra time, where no team could capitalize on the extra 30 minutes, until they entered penalties.
Kovacic and Bernado Silva missed their penalties, while Rudiger scored the winning penalty as Madrid qualified 4-3 on penalties.
Bayer and Real would move into the semis, while the winner will face either of PSG or Borussia Dortmund for the continent’s elite trophy.
