The Camp Nou Stadium in Barcelona, Spain, and Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund Germany, the homes of Barcelona FC and Borussia Dortmund respectively, erupted into a frenzy as both Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Dortmund secured stunning comeback victories in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The first leg matches for both fixtures had ended 2-3 in favour of Barcelona, with Raphael Dias Belloli better known as Raphinha getting a brace away and Barça looking to snatch a victory against the Parisiennes.

Alternatively, Diego Simeone‘s Atlético recorded a 2-1 victory at home against Dortmund as both La Liga teams looked set to qualify for the semis. However, the gods of football had other ideas.

Barça got on the scoresheet first, with Raphinha scoring again to give his side a 4-2 aggregate lead. However, the advantage quickly swung in favour of PSG as Ronald Araujo was dismissed on the grounds of denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

This quickly turned the game around, as PSG dominated much of the ball and got their reward, with former Barça player Ousmane Dembele lashing a shot into the roof of the net on the six-yard box, making the game level.

The game continued into half-time level and Victor Ferriera put PSG ahead at the 56th minute. Kylian Mbappe then converted a spot kick after João Cancelo‘s foul making it 3-1 and scored again, putting the tie to bed on a 6-4 aggregate.

Dortmund’s turnaround was also spectacular, with Julian Brandt and Ian Maatsen giving them a two-goal lead in the space of 5 minutes.

This continued till in the second half, when Atleti responded with two goals of theirs, bringing the scores to two apiece

Sadly, this was not the night for Atlético, as Niclas Fuulkrug scored two minutes after Joaquín Correa‘s goal to make it 3-2, and Marcel Sabitzer‘s 30-yard hit was the cherry on the top as Dortmund also ran out 6-4 winners on aggregate.

PSG and Dortmund will meet in the semis of the competition, as we await the results of Manchester City vs Real Madrid and Arsenal vs Bayern to discover the other semifinalists.
