A bodybuilder, Michael Chidozie, has died from gunshot wounds by his wife, Keaiira during a heated argument.
Michael, 26, was shot four times in their Houston, Texas home on March 21 and was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital. The bullets hit him on the arm, chest and torso.
For weeks, Michael struggled for his life on life support, but ultimately succumbed to death from complications.
Keaiirra Shavoiyae Chidoezie, 28, his wife was charged with aggravated assault while Micheal was still alive in hospital.
She said she and her late husband got into a heated debate in front of the kids in their bedroom, and she reached for a pistol and fired at him in self defense.
No one knows what exactly the argument was about. Friends say the couple appeared to live peacefully and nothing in their relationship suggested violence on this scale.
The deceased family say it was Michael’s wish to some day return to his Nigerian homeland. They’re trying to raise $70,000 to bring his body home for burial.
“His passing has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. He was a devoted father, a cherished son, and a dear friend to many,” a statement on behalf of the family reads.
“Chidozie’s kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.”
Keaiirra is currently on bail and due to commence trial on May 23. Curiously her charge has not been upgraded now with the eventual death of her husband.
Their two children are currently in custody of close family relations.
